Swedish Foreign Minister to visit Zambia on anniversary of Hammarskjold crash

Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt is due to visit Zambia on September 18 to commemorate the memory of the late UN Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold, the Swedish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The visit coincides with the 50th anniversary of Hammarskjold’s death in a plane crash near Ndola.

In addition to attending a memorial ceremony, Bildt was also to meet representatives of the Zambian government and other officials.

Just days before a hotly contested election might prove to be an awkward time for Minister Bildt to visit.
Its like arriving in the middle of a tense family argument- you risk being ignored or being dragged in.

Hi Rolf, Thanks for you comment. How do you feel about the result of the election, did it turn out as good as possible? Regards, Ylva
